It was great to see over eighty of our members and other interested community members come along for our first event back live since March 2020. Follow any of the links on this page to find out more about the Newcastle Institute. Next month we’re focusing on the election from the perspective of some very interesting panel members. Keep an eye on your inbox for more details. If the video below appears in Portrait orientation; try clicking the full screen button at the bottom right of the youtube window.
The Newcastle Institute is delighted to announce that we are resuming our monthly meetings – in a new location!
As before, we will meet from 6.00 to 7.30pm on the second Wednesday of the month. Our new location will be the Newcastle United Sports Club (formerly Adamstown Rosebuds), in Bryant Street Adamstown. The club facilities include a Chinese Restaurant.
Our first meeting of this year, on March 9th, will feature Professor Julie Byles, who was recently awarded an AO (Officer of the Order of Australia) in recognition of her distinguished service to medical research. Her research focus is on how people can age well, and the factors that influence and promote healthy ageing. She is the Director of the Australian Longitudinal Study on Women’s Health, which has continued over 25 years, and studied the health of more than 57,000 women.
