Mr Rudd will explore the themes from his latest book, The Avoidable War: The Dangers of a Catastrophic Conflict between the US and Xi Jinping’s China. Mr Rudd will analyse the factors that lie beneath the volatile relationship between China and the United States and its allies, including Australia, and discuss ways these tensions can be controlled without spiralling into crisis, confrontation, and conflict.
Mr Rudd served as Australia’s twenty-sixth Prime Minister from 2007 to 2010 and then as its Foreign Minister from 2010 to 2012, before returning as Prime Minister in 2013.
